The Summer Teacher Institute is geared for middle school and high school teachers with curriculum content you can use for professional development. Teachers will spend 5 days at operating surface crushed stone, sand & gravel operations and underground potash mines in New Mexico. The field-oriented program will include tours, instruction in geology, engineering, economics, environmental sciences and even blasting with explosives! Learn how aggregates are used to construct highways, buildings and the Rail Runner. Visit the Highway Department and learn how asphalt and concrete are designed and tested. Find out why New Mexico leads in mining of important industrial minerals. Develop new curriculum and hands-on activities you can use in the classroom to bring real-world experiences to your students and help stimulate learning.Teachers can register today by calling the NMMA Office at
